Our activation journey

Each site is a story of partnership — schools, coaches, families, and supporters making something real together.

Site One · 2025

Alanton Elementary School

Virginia Beach City Public Schools

Our first activation. Two professional-grade 24×8 soccer goals donated, ceremony held, and a community partnership launched. One boy and one girl took the first ceremonial shots in front of cheering classmates. The Alanton Pitch is now home to our free pickup soccer nights.

Site Two · February 2026

Blair Middle School

Norfolk Public Schools

Two professional-grade 24×8 soccer goals donated, ending a years-long routine where players walked a half-mile each way to a nearby elementary school just to access goals. Featured by Norfolk Public Schools.

The Great Neck Pitch

Great Neck Baptist Church · Virginia Beach

Our first field built from the ground up. An unused stretch of church lawn became a 140 × 140 ft grass pitch — leveled with sand, seeded, lined with a 6-yard box, an 18-yard box and the penalty spot, and mowed every week. Backstop netting went up 16 feet high, and goals come in three sizes that move anywhere on the field. There's a playground for younger siblings and a covered picnic table for parents. Home to free pickup soccer, clinics, group training, and community play.

The Great Neck Pitch is private property and is not open to the public. Play here is by scheduled For the Players Foundation programming only. We're grateful to Great Neck Baptist Church for opening this space to local kids.

Location to be announced

Three sites down. We're working on the fourth right now and we'll announce it as soon as it's ready. Every one of these started the same way — someone told us about a piece of ground that wasn't being used. Have a field, a lot, or an empty stretch of grass at your school, church or neighborhood? Tell us about it.

What each program has delivered

Every dollar and donation flows into work that removes a real, specific barrier to play.

Program 01

The More Play Network

3 Sites activated with goals, equipment, and support
200+ Players registered for free pickup soccer

Building and activating soccer spaces at Hampton Roads schools, parks, and communities — and now powering our free pickup soccer, where kids just show up and play. Goals go in, equipment arrives, programs begin, and a forgotten corner of a campus becomes a field that matters.

Program 02

The Teammate Project

6 Players fully sponsored through community support
$790 Direct support raised for player sponsorships

Covering registration fees, uniforms, and gear so no child sits out because of what their family can or cannot afford. Every player sponsored is a kid back on the field.

Program 03

Cleats for Kids

75+ Pairs of gently used cleats donated to the program
23 Pairs placed with players, with more waiting for a good home

Collecting and redistributing gently-used cleats to youth players across Hampton Roads. A pair sitting in a closet becomes the pair a kid needed to finally join the team.
